Con Edison and NYISO are enhancing their demand response initiative for commercial and industrial clients, offering incentives for temporarily reducing electricity consumption during severe weather conditions or when necessary. Eligible businesses that pledge to cut a minimum of 50 kilowatts, as requested by Con Edison, can actively engage in this program and receive compensation for their commitment to demand response.

Invictus Energy Solutions, the program's aggregator, will supervise equipment for demand response participation, handle data analysis, communicate with Grid Operators and Utilities, financial management, regulatory compliance, and performance reporting. Here's how it generally works:  

1. Enrollment: Con Edison and NYISO enroll voluntary participants, setting generator use terms.

2. Notification: Con Edison alerts enrolled customers about upcoming demand response events.

3. Generator Activation: Customers activate commercial generators to ease grid demand.

4. Incentives: Participants allowing generator use receive Con Edison incentives.

5. Grid Stabilization: This practice enhances grid stability during peak demand, minimizing blackout risk.
